My name is Elizabeth.
I created this site in dedication to my favorite Dark Shadows actor, Humbert Allen Astredo, and in memory of Humbert's daughter Jenny, who passed away in 2008.
Humbert Allen Astredo Jr. is an American actor, best known for the characters he created on the 1960's gothic soap opera Dark Shadows. Humbert played three characters on the show, including warlock Nicholas Blair, lawyer Evan Hanley, and cult follower Charles Dawson.
Humbert was born on April 4, 1929 in Pasadena, California to traveling salesman Humbert Astredo Sr. and Bess Houston Alley, a former "Miss Cedar Rapids".
In childhood, Humbert divided his time between the diverse atmosphere of San Francisco, his Uncle Jack's mountain cabin in the High Sierras, and his grandmother Jenny's hotel, The El Molino Arms in Pasadena. The latter provided young Humbert with his first exposure to the acting profession as actors from the nearby Playhouse would often reside at the hotel.
In 1964, after studying drama at the Pasadena Playhouse and the Actors Lab in San Francisco, Humbert arrived in New York City to pursue a career on the stage. He appeared in off-broadway productions such as "Othello", "Baal", and "Fragments" with Gene Hackman, while supplementing his income with t.v. commercials, soap operas, and voice-over work. During the 80's, Humbert joined Elizabeth Taylor onstage in the Broadway production of "Little Foxes", and later toured with Martin Landau in the stage production of "Dracula" as Professor Van Helsing. Humbert also appeared in "Equus" as the disturbed boy's father.
Humbert has a life-long love of the sea and sailing, adores dogs, and loves to read.
He is very gracious to his fans, but prefers to keep his personal life private.
